Adjust how CoachBrighter converts times between courses when the defaults need tuning

Last updated 6/17/2026

CoachBrighter converts times between courses automatically when it seeds meets and ranks records. Most teams never touch the factors — new teams start with a standard set (NFHS for high school, NCAA for club). Come here only when a conversion looks off or your program uses different multipliers. For what courses are and why conversion exists, see Courses & time conversion.

How a factor works

A factor is a multiplier applied as converted time = original time × factor:

  • Above 1.0 makes a time slower — converting yards up to meters (e.g. 24.50 SCY × 1.115 = 27.32 LCM).
  • Below 1.0 makes a time faster — converting meters down to yards.

Each factor is specific to a distance, stroke, gender, event type, and a direction (from-course → to-course), so a full set covers every combination you seed.

Adjusting a factor

Open Settings > Conversion Factors. Edit or remove any factor from its menu, or use Add Factor to create one for a combination you don't have yet. Changes apply the next time a meet is seeded — they don't rewrite times already recorded.

Troubleshooting

Times stay unconverted during seeding — there's no factor matching that exact distance, stroke, gender, and course direction. Add one.

A conversion looks wrong — check the direction. SCY→LCM and LCM→SCY are separate factors, and using the wrong one inverts the result.
